Dr Camilla Kingdon
Dr Camilla Kingdon

Camilla Kingdon is President of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health (RCPCH), the leading voice for children and young people’s health in the UK.  Camilla is a consultant neonatologist at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital with sub-specialty interests in neonatal nutrition, donor milk banking and neurodevelopmental follow up of high risk neonates.

Camila was Vice President for Education and Professional Development between July 2018 and May 2021.  She was elected to the Presidential role in December 2020 and took up office in  May 2021.

Camilla grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and graduated from the University of Cape Town.  Camilla came to the UK in 1991 and spent a year doing adult medicine before discovering paediatrics. She never looked back. She trained in London, achieving her CCT in 2000 and has been a Consultant Neonatologist at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital since then.

Camilla has a longstanding involvement in medical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She was Head of the London School of Paediatrics and Child Health for 5 years and this gave her unique opportunities to see first hand the highs and lows of working in Paediatrics and all its subspecialties, in a wide range of different clinical settings.

Camilla has always been involved in postgraduate medical education, taking on roles as College Tutor, then Regional Advisor, Training Programme Director and finally Head of School for London for five years. She completed an MA in Medical Careers and particularly enjoys supporting doctors with challenging career dilemmas.

Camilla’s priorities are to tackle retention issues to sustain a first class workforce including addressing equality, diversity and inclusion, and to advocate for child health in the context of climate change and wider health inequalities.
